Lei Yang
Pianist Lei Yang is one of the most diversify musicians today in China. He is the youngest faculty member of Nanjing Art Institute, and enjoying a successful performing career both as a classical and jazz pianist. Founding member of the Haydn Jazz Band, He made his European debut at the Eisenstadt Esterhazy imperial palace in Vienna, and undertook a concert tour both classical and Jazz piano concerts in China and Europe in 2005, highlighted by a concert in the music center in Burgenland, Austria where he played at 2 pianos simultaneously. He also performs regularly in Italy, Ukrainian and his native China.
Third place Winner in the 17th Rome International Piano competition in Italian in 2006, Lei also received prize and scholarship in the Boesendorfer piano competition in Austria In 2008. His thesis "Music investigate on b minor sonata of Liszt" is registered to "music excellent thesis database of Doctor Master in Vienna".
Lei started piano lessons from his father. He studied with Professor Xu Jun at the Naijing Arts Institute. He received a performance diploma from the Haydn Conservatory of music and Vienna University of Music in Austria in the class of Professor Ralf Heiber and Professor Franz Zettl.

In his own words:
I always approach things very enthusiastically. So my personality is take photos and sports, especially take photos when I am traveling, I will leave my tracks in many places. And I will also play sports to relax myself in my spare time.
With my strong academic background, I am capable and competent. I hope to demonstrate my ability and talents in this Competition.
I will spend more time in piano education. I think it's very useful for my future. When I begin something, I don't like to leave it half done.
