The Festival proceedings shall be under the management of
the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto Committee.
All matters not covered in these rules shall be referred
to the CCC Music Festival Committee, whose decisions
on such matters shall be final and binding.
In case of any unforeseeable events, the CCC Music Festival
Committee reserves the right to postpone, cancel, or change
the venue of the Festival. The administration fee will not be
refunded.
Eligibility
No age limits will be imposed except where
indicated. Age is as of January 1st, 2010.
Entries
All entries must be received by December 10th, 2009
accompanied by a cheque for entry fees and a fully
completed registration application. Entry fees are nonrefundable.
A grace period for late registration will be
extended to January 10, 2010, with a $20 late fee charge.
Contestants must enter at their current grade
level, only one grade level may be entered,
except in the age achievement class.
Contestants in class of Grade 1–10 may not
enter the grade they have already passed prior to December 10, 2009.
Contestants may enter only once in each
class. However, contestants may enter as
many different classes as he/she wishes.
Contestants may not enter 2 or more age levels for
Age Achievement Classes and Concerto Classes.
CCC Piano Competition 2010 (Canada) · Syllabus
Neither special scheduling requests nor
any changes will be considered.
The CCC Music Festival Committee reserves the right to
refuse any entry.
Competition Pieces
Competition pieces for all classes (except for Age
Achievement Classes and Concerto Classes) must
be chosen from the current Royal Conservatory
of Music Syllabus, or the Conservatory of Canada
Syllabus. Any entry not eligible for the class, or any
piece which is not fully described on the entry form
may be disqualified (and a refund will be made).
Competition pieces chosen for the Age Achievement
classes and/or the Concerto classes need not be
chosen from the Royal Conservatory Syllabus
or the Conservatory of Canada Syllabus.
Contestants must perform the piece(s)
as stated on their entry form.
Contestants must supply the original music for the
adjudicator. No photocopies of the music will be accepted.
A competition piece cannot be performed
for more than one class.
Competition pieces are expected to be performed
from memory. Competition pieces are to be performed
without repeats (with the exception of Da Capo).
Contestants that have not been included in
the examination system may only perform
class pieces within a two grade level.
Programme Procedures
Contestants must arrive at least 10 minutes
prior to his/her scheduled class.
Rules and Regulations
Contestants must dress semi formal. No jeans or sneakers.
The adjudicator may, at his/her discretion, interrupt a
performance when his/her assessment has been finalized.
The decision of the adjudicator must be accepted as final.
Rehearsing on location is not permitted.
Any complaints must be in writing and sent to a
member of the CCC Music Festival Committee
within 48 hours of awarding certificates.
Classes may be divided or combines at the
discretion of the CCC Music Festival Committee.
Flash photography, Audio and/or Video recording is
strictly prohibited during sessions. All cell phones
and pagers must be turned off during sessions. No
food/drink is permitted in the performance hall.
No contestant, parent or member of public may
converse with the adjudicator. Any approach to
the adjudicator may result in disqualification.
Awards
Each contestant will receive adjudication with mark
assigned. Certificates for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places
will be issued at the time of competition.
The first place winner from each class will receive one
complimentary ticket of the Gala Concert and must be
present at the Award ceremony to receive his/her prize.
Contestant may be asked to perform at the Gala Concert
and only play the piece selected by CCC Committee.
