Kirill Zvegintsov

Jun Asai Kirill Zvegintsov was born in Askania- Nova, Ukraine in 1983. He began his first piano lessons when he was five years old.

He continued his studies at the N. Lysenko Special Music College (1999-2002) and the P. Tchaikovsky Music Academy (2002-2005) in Kiev with Prof. Boris Arkhimovich. In 2005, he began studying music performance with Prof. Tomasz Herbut at the Berne Conservatory and obtained his Concert Diploma with distinction in 2008. He is on track to complete his Master of Arts in Specialized Music Performance in the summer of 2011.

Kirill Zvegintsov has won prizes in numerous piano competitions including first place in the International S. Prokofiev Competition in Donetsk, Ukraine in 2001, first place in the New Names of Ukraine Competition in Kiev in 2003, third place in the Sixth International Bach Piano Competition in Würzburg, Germany in 2006, and first place in Les virtuoses du futur, an International Piano Competition in Crans-Montana, Switzerland in 2007. He was also a finalist in the Sixth E. Honens International Piano Competition in Calgary, Canada in 2009.

Since 1999, he has performed as a soloist, as a chamber musician, as part of a piano duo and with orchestras in Switzerland (Culture-Casino Berne), Ukraine (Grand Philharmonic Hall in Kiev), Poland (Grand Hall of the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw) and Canada (Jack-Singer Hall in Calgary). He was invited to such international festivals as Murten Classics, Menuhin Festival Gstaad, Les Sommets du Classique and has recorded piano pieces of Alin Gherman and Valentin Silvestrov. He took part in master classes with Dimitri Bashkirov, Piotr Andrszewski, Alexandre Tharaud and Robert Levin.

In his own words:

I travel a lot, I have been to 8 countries during last 12 months, normally I travel alone, I can easily survive several weeks almost without luggage and sleep outside in my sleeping bag if it's warm.

I love to learn foreign languages. I rarely lock the door while leaving my house, I never go out without a book, I ride the bike the whole year. Besides I go to gym, I love jogging and swimming. I don't have profile on facebook and other social networks. And I play organ.

I dislike piano competitions, as everyone does. Why do we participate then? It would be another question:
