Joo Hyeon PARK
Joo Hyeon PARK was born in South Korea. Soon after receiving his initial piano lessons at the age of 10, he went on to win various prizes from Korean youth competitions. He then entered the prestigious "Yewon Arts School" for talented, young musicians. At the age 12, Mr. Park made his professional debut at Opushall in Seoul, Korea. He subsequently visited numerous masterclasses by B. Berman, A. Jasinski, Philippe Entremont, and K.H. Kämmerling, with whom he studied at the University Mozarteum Salzburg and completed the Bachelor of Music Arts with honors.
Mr. Park has been invited to perform in many festivals and concerts throughout Europe. Several festivals include: "Festival Salzburger Musiker", "KLANGRAUME", "Eric Satie Festival", "7 EDIZIONE della RASSEGANA di GIOVANI TALENTI EUROPEI", "Salzburger
Schlosskonzerte Schloss Mirabell", "Sommerakademie Salzburg", "Yale Vista Chambermusic Concert", "Bodensee Musikfestival" and "Gewandhaus zu Leipzig."
He is also an active chamber musician, concertizing with such groups and individuals as the Twins Quartet, Luz Leskowitz, Heidi Litschauer. He has had solo engagements with the Dornbirn Youth Symphony Orchestra, Mecenat Philharmonic Orchestra, Gottinger Symphony Orchestra, Universitat Mozarteum Symphony Orchestra and Akademisches Orchester Leipzig under the direction of Simma Guntram, Wolfgang Westphal, Horst Forster and Sir Andre Previn. In November 2009, he was invited to perform at the Gewandhaus zu Leipzig in Germany to celebrate Mendelssohn's 200th anniversary.
Mr. Park's competition accolades include: 1. Prize Rotary Lindau-Friedrichs-hafen Competition 2005, additionally being awarded the "Audience Choice Award,"
1. Prize Mozarteum Mozart Prize 2007, Salzburg, and 2. Prize International Foundation Animato Competition 2008 in Zurich. Rolf und Ingeborg Rütgers Private Foundation Award 2008. Additionally Mr. Park was selected to be a member of "Live Music Now", founded by Sir Yehudi Menuhin.
Currently, Mr. Park is pursuing a Master's Degree at the Yale School of Music under Prof. Claude Frank.

In his own words:
I like learning foreign languages and traveling.
I believe competitions motivate young musicians to practice with focus. It's helpful to have a deadline or a goal to practice for, and it trains one to plan ahead. It is a great opportunity to meet fellow musicians and it also helps widen our views.
I would like to become the most sincere and honest musician I can be. Music is a language that is understood by everyone, and my hope is to express myself through music that affirms life, brings joy.
